A UNIQUE business opportunity in Cumbria has come on the market. With thousands of social media followers and regular commuter customers, Casbah Coffee Van based at Penrith Railway Station is now for sale.
With a five-star Trip Advisor rating, Casbah Coffee has been cheering up travellers and coffee lovers in Penrith since November 2015.
Now, the founder of the Casbah Coffee Van, Mike Brennen has put the Casbah van, named Arabella by customers up for sale.
Mike said: “I have really enjoyed building up Casbah Coffee. What I like about coffee is that it is a very sociable thing and it is a very basic thing. I am meeting a basic human need. When you see people catching trains early in the morning they really appreciate a coffee.
“I always had a real passion for coffee and I think it drove my wife to distraction. I bought so many machines online and they took up masses of space in our kitchen.
“Sometimes you get an idea in 50 seconds and it reveals where you’re going – she suggested to me ‘why don’t you get a coffee van and I thought ‘yes, I could probably do that. It was a lightbulb moment and I developed a business plan within a day.
“I called it Casbah because I am a huge fan of The Clash. A lot of people asked if it is named after a Moroccan but it is just a musical reference. Then the van got so popular, I held a competition to name her – she became Arabella.”
Now after six years of serving the public quality coffee, come rain or shine outside Penrith train station, Mike has decided it’s time to retire from the Casbah.
Mike added: “It has been a great journey for me, however, I have made the difficult decision and I’m looking to sell the business. It’s a great opportunity for a fellow coffee lover to have their own caffeine-fuelled business.”
