Beatrix Potter, famed for The Tale of Peter Rabbit, attended many splendid parties at Storrs Hall on the shores of Windermere in the early 1900s. Today, the beautiful Georgian mansion which stands right by the waters of England’s largest lake, is now a hotel and it is set to launch a Beatrix Potter themed Tiny Tots Tea in perfect time for May Half Term.
The Tiny Tots Tea is served with the view of the lake once enjoyed by Beatrix herself, in either Storrs Hall’s Lake Edge Restaurant, or on its terrace overlooking the water. Daintily presented on a little china tea set decorated with the tales of Benjamin Bunny, Jemima Puddleduck, Mrs Tiggywinkle and friends, it comes with Beatrix Potter themed cutlery too.
The tiddly tea is a feast of sweet and savoury goodies including bunny and star shaped sandwiches filled with ham and cheese, a slice of flaky pastry sausage roll, chocolate dipped strawberries and marshmallows, mini chocolate and lemon fairy cakes and a diddy cream-filled chocolate éclair complete with sprinkles. This is all created from scratch in the hotel’s kitchens and served with a choice of either homemade fruit milkshake, or hot chocolate topped with whipped cream.
If the view isn’t enough to keep little ones entertained, the tea is accompanied by a Storrs Hall colouring book and crayons, so mini Beatrix Potter wannabes can hone their artistic skills once their tummies are full. After tea, tots can burn off some of their energy within Storrs Hall’s 17 acres of private gardens and woodland and even enjoy a paddle with their grown-ups on the private lakeshore.
Storrs Halls Tiny Tots Tea is available from today. It costs £10 per child under 12 and must be booked 24 hours in advance. A traditional afternoon tea for grown-ups is available too and costs £22.50 per person, or £36.50 per person with champagne. Family suites are available at Storrs Hall for those who want to continue the magic and these cost from £605 per night for two adults and two children including breakfast.
