36 team members from Simon Rogan’s UK restaurants are gearing up to run four miles, every four hours for 48 hours on Friday, 12th March in an effort to raise funds for Hospitality Action.
The 4x4x48 Challenge, also known as the ‘’Goggins Challenge’’, is designed to test runners both physically and mentally. The brutal challenge was devised by David Goggins, the only member of the US Armed Forces to complete SEAL training, Army Ranger School and Air Force tactical air controller training, and is one of the most popular fitness challenges worldwide
Hospitality Action provides a whole range of support services to help hospitality people back on their feet again after a setback. Each year this helps thousands of people through challenging times including physical illness, mental health issues, financial difficulty, family problems and addiction.
Simon Rogan commented: “Supporting our colleagues in the hospitality sector is really important to us all. The whole idea of doing this is to push ourselves, to experience a mental and physical challenge and to help the industry at the same time. We’re one big family, and we want to be able to do something to help those colleagues who have struggled in the aftermath of COVID-19 and raise much need funds to support the invaluable work that Hospitality Action carry out.’’
The Rogan team kick off their efforts from 8am on Friday, 12th March until 8am on Saturday, 14th March running circular routes from their home addresses, covering 4 miles (6.4km) every four hours.
Keep an eye on social media in the coming weeks, as there may well be some other top chefs and leading hospitality industry figures getting stuck in too.
You can get involved too… If you like running and are willing to help raise some cash for charity why not participate in the 4x4x48 Challenge?
If running isn’t your thing why not opt to walk, ride your bike or do some other form of exercise instead, for between 30 minutes to 60 minutes every 4 hours and lend a helping hand?
