Things get political at Words by the Water on Wednesday (16 March) as political columnist and TV presenter, Steve Richards and former leader of the Liberal Democrats, Vince Cable take to the stage in the Main House, writes Karen Morley-Chesworth.
Columnist for the Guardian, Independent, New Statesman and Spectator, Steve regularly presents Radio 4’s Week in Westminster and hosts a one-man show, Rock N Roll Politics. However, I am looking forward to his 5.30 pm session entitled Falling at the Final Hurdle where he examines the fortunes and misfortunes of 11 would-be prime ministers.
I’m interested to know if Denis Healey and Michael Heseltine are the best prime ministers we never had – and why they never got the top stop – and look forward to getting my copy of his book The Prime Ministers We Never Had signed by the author.
Steve is followed on stage at 7.30 pm by Vince Cable whose new book Money and Power – 16 World Leaders Who Changes Economics is the basis of his talk Changing Fortunes.
Vince looks at 16 politicians – including Roosevelt – and how economics and politics can really change the fortunes of a country. I’m keen to hear more about how economic theories played out in the real world.
