Cumbria in Bloom is urging local communities to apply for a new grant from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to help neighbourhoods bloom.
The RHS has launched the RHS Connected Communities – Network Development Grant which is open to Britain in Bloom and It’s Your Neighbourhood groups.
Applications will close at 5 pm on Tuesday 2nd May. Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 will be available to support groups to create new or develop existing, gardening and growing networks.
Chair of Cumbria in Bloom, Ronnie Auld said: “The RHS will be looking for applications from networks (made up of three or more groups) which are either doing something new or developing their existing work.
“We would encourage groups in Cumbria to take a look at this opportunity that could really help them to develop their green spaces.”
Grants will be made to networks which strengthen local community gardening or growing projects and benefit local communities; create and develop long-term connections between local groups; encourage the sharing of gardening and growing skills, knowledge and resources among groups; enable new or different audiences to start growing; and build knowledge and understanding of what helps to make local gardening and growing networks successful.
