Cumbria in Bloom, the county’s charitable organisation promoting gardening in the county, is calling on gardeners to get involved in the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch this month to highlight the importance of gardening to improving biodiversity and sustainability.
The Big Garden Birdwatch runs from January 24-26, 2025, and anyone can get involved counting birds they see in their garden, from their balcony or in their local park.
Cumbria in Bloom is part of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom, and as part of our annual gardening competition, and are promoting the importance of biodiversity in our green space.
Taking part in the Cumbria in Bloom competitions and activities gives a golden opportunity to create and develop habitats and ecosystems that can help to mitigate some of the many human activities that destroy or weaken the biodiversity that is essential to our existence on earth.
Cumbria in Bloom is a registered charity and is grateful to sponsors for providing funding which supports their work with schools, as well as other community groups and businesses.
Information on how to sponsor and enter Cumbria in Bloom is available on the organisation’s website cumbria-in-bloom.org.uk and information on the Big Garden Birdwatch 2025 is available from their website https://www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/big-garden-birdwatch
