If you go into the Lakes today you’ll be in for a bit of a surprise, for every bear that ever there was will be gathered together for the annual Teddies Go Free Easter event hosted by award winning heritage attractions Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and Ullswater ‘Steamers’.

With daffodils in full bloom it’s the perfect time explore the Ullswater and Eskdale valleys in the Lake District, Cumbria and what better way to introduce your children to the delights of spring than a trip a ‘Steamer’ on Ullswater or a steam train ride on “L’aal Ratty” accompanied by their favourite teddies. Running until the 22nd April, all children aged 5-15 years with a Teddy Bear travel for free when accompanied by a paying adult. When you’ve finished your journey there will be chance to have a teddy bear picnic or hunt the bears on the specially designed Teddy Trails at both attractions.
Lisa Braithwaite, Attractions Marketing Manager at Lake District Estates says: ‘We’re looking forward to celebrating the Easter holidays with Teddies and their best friends. It’s a fun day out for the whole family and especially nice to treat Ted to a trip on a boat or train. Now in its 6th year it has become a staple in the calendar for many families. It’s is a great way to encourage the kids to get outside and enjoy the landscape we have on offer in the Lake District. For those older children who enjoy a longer walk there are several routes that can be done from both attractions.’’
Visitors are encouraged share photos of their teddies enjoying getting out and about on social media with the hashtag #teddyfest For further information about events and cruises with Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and Ullswater ‘Steamers’ please visit: www.ullswater-steamers.co.uk andhttps://ravenglass-railway.co.uk/
