I’VE been teaching now for 25 years in cumbria. I started in the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal, but over the years I did workshops and demonstrations with all different Art groups all over the county. Even as far as Abergavenny.
I have been able to run workshops in the gallery in Windermere. Before lockdown I would have up to 6 people, now a maximum of 3 to keep it safe.
All art materials are provided so you don’t have to worry about bringing those along.
It’s been very international over the years. People from Japan, Saodi Arabia, China…. And it is a great thing to do on a rainy day. All materials are provided and people usually go home with a piece of art they produced and are happy with.
But how lovely is this…. I got a message on instagram, The teacher from Grayrigg primary school has used my artwork as inspiration to work with her children. When I went to primary school we would only use people like picasso or mondriaan as inspiration. Not local artists…. So I feel honoured. And they did do some lovely work.
It’s been a while since I have done an exhibition, having my own gallery has stopped me from looking for new venues. But this time we went to Sheffield. Our Friends reopened their Cafe after lockdown. This is part of the Harland Works. It’s called John Street Kitchen.
It’s been a good year for publicity. It started with the gazette writing about my masks, Then home is where the art is with Nick Knowles, you can still watch thist on I player, episode 4.
Cumbria life did a great article in the September issue.
Writing for Cumbria 24 is interesting too. I have never done anything like this. Keeps you engaged on a totally different level…Me and writing never were best friends. But we are getting on better now….
