CUMBRIAN R&D tax reclaim specialist, Growthviser, has strengthened its service to the farming community by partnering with one of the sector’s most innovative and entrepreneurial minds as its farming sector specialist.
Joe Towers, the transformative owner of Brades Farm in the Lune Valley, Lancashire, has joined managing director, Darina Ward, as part of the management team that has set its sights on reclaiming thousands of pounds of tax, on behalf of farmers who have innovated and who could be entitled to a refund of up to 33 pence in the pound.
Joe will be delivering in-depth insight to cases involving farms that are Limited Companies, registered with Companies House, and which have invested in some form of ‘innovation’ this year, or in the previous two accounting periods.
This new farming award-winner and Growthviser team member, who will be a familiar name to many in the farming community, will be helping to pull together the stories that sit behind farming innovations, so that the R&D claim is presented to HMRC in as complete a way as possible and in a language that scrutineers will understand, when reviewing the claim.
He will also be liaising with farms, communicating that innovation does not necessarily mean a bright new invention has been brought to market. In many instances, it can be a change in the processes used on a farm and new actions that have delivered a benefit. It is as much about improvements as it is innovation.
Joe’s reputation goes before him, making his partnering with Growthviser a coup for an R&D tax reclaim specialist in its first sixth months of delivering financial good news to all manner of businesses eligible for an R&D tax reclaim. He and his brother, Edward, are past winners of the Dairy Innovator of the Year Award at the British Farming Awards and Joe is the dairy specialist who created hipster milk product, Brades Farm Barista Milk.
He has since been involved with a project seeking solutions to methane emissions generated by livestock.
Joe sits on the BBC Rural Affairs Committee and the AHDB Dairy Board and has worked as a specialist on a dairy project run by Tesco. He is a former Honorary Teaching Fellow and Entrepreneur in Residence at Lancaster University Management School.
