Tim Hortons opens first restaurant in Cumbria

Tim Hortons Penrith - freshly made food to order

Canadian fresh, fast food restaurant chain, Tim Horton open their first outlet in Cumbria this Thursday (December 15) in Penrith.

Tim Horton, a National Hockey League Legend, opened the first store in Hamilton, Ontario Canada in 1964, now 58 years later Cumbrians can enjoy the freshly prepared food at the former KFC site just off the A66.

The refurbishment of the drive-thru has created a warm, welcoming place to enjoy the freshly made wraps, burgers and toasties, as well as their famous donuts and pancakes. The chain is known for their excellent coffee, and I can see why the classic French Vanilla Latte is so popular.

At the pre-launch event in Penrith I enjoyed their chicken wrap with lattice fries and garlic mayo dip. The meat was tender and succulent an fries crisp and tasty. With the option of toasties, there’s something a little different to enjoy.

Tim Horton opened their first restaurant in the UK in 2017, so it’s great they have chosen Penrith in Cumbria as part of their expansion plans here.

It may be a fast-food chain, however it appears to be true to their original vision of providing quality, fresh food. And don’t forget to try their famous Timbits, mini donuts which have become a Canadian icon.

Tim Horton opens 7am until 10am everyday except Christmas Day from Thursday, December 15. Enjoy!
