Cumbrian artisan food businesses Winter Tarn Dairy and Lovingly Artisan Bakery are set to feature in episode four of a brand-new Channel 5 TV series which will explore the Lake District and Cumbria’s coast.

The two South Lakes businesses will feature on Wednesday 7 August at 8pm, as the TV crew pay a visit to each business chatting to Harry Jackson at Winter Tarn Dairy’s Dockray Hall site, to discover how they make their award-winning butter. They follow Harry as he makes a delivery to Forest Side, Grasmere, where he chats with head chef Paul Leonard about new products, before then following Harry to Lovingly Artisan Bakery, Plumgarths, near Kendal, where he drops off some new product samples for Aidan Monks co-owner of the multi-award-winning bakery to experiment with.

Narrated by Downton Abbey actor Jim Carter, The Lakes and The Coast aims to capture a rich slice of life in one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations.

Filmed throughout the summer of 2023, the series celebrates old traditions and welcomes new life, with unique access to historic homes and ancient gardens and a range of characters who live and work in this idyllic location.

Produced by Yorkshire-based Air TV. Air TV’s Managing Director Matt Richards said: “Cumbria is home to England’s most dramatic and celebrated national park, but there’s far more to this county than just The Lakes. With sandy beaches, sleepy villages and fascinating industrial heritage, the Cumbrian coast is an undiscovered world of amazing landscapes and fascinating people. This series unlocks the secret getaways often tucked behind a mountain or hidden deep beside a remote lake.’’

Harry Jackson from Winter Tarn Dairy commented: ‘’Cumbria is a fantastic place in which to live, work and do business and it’s close to our hearts. We were thrilled to be asked by Air TV to get involved with the new series and to have the opportunity to share a little insight as to how we go about crafting our award-winning handmade artisan butter, which we supply all outlets including café, Michelin-starred restaurants, food service businesses and bakeries up and down the country including Lovingly Artisan who use our butter sheets to make their delicious croissants.’’

Aidan Monks from Lovingly Artisan Bakery said: ‘’It’s always great to be involved with projects like this, having the opportunity to showcase where we live and work and to share what we do in tandem with our food-producing colleagues across the region is fantastic. The quality of the food and drink offer in Cumbria is known the world over and we’re proud to play our small part in that. It’s a constantly developing, growing, and diversifying industry, and we as a company do our utmost to champion that fact, as well as doing our bit to encourage more people locally to think about careers in food and drink and hospitality in the region and grab the opportunities that are out there.”
