The Simon Rogan Academy apprenticeship programme, established by the Simon Rogan Restaurant Group, in conjunction with Kendal College, has been shortlisted for a Springboard Award for Excellence 2023, in the Best Training Programme category.
The Simon Rogan Academy, created in 2021 in collaboration with Kendal College, is an 18-month hands-on immersive learning programme, specifically designed to take students on a unique journey. The programme is designed to equip them with skills that will escalate their passion for food and drink. As they learn through working directly with the teams in Simon’s Lake District restaurants and are further supplemented with practical and theory-based learning, provided by the expert tutors from Kendal College, one of the UK’s leading hospitality schools.
The annual Springboard Awards for Excellence are designed as a celebration of hospitality’s finest individuals and businesses. Recognising and rewarding those who have demonstrated over the last year their resourcefulness, creativity and innovation in supporting and nurturing their co-workers within their individual organisations.
Some of the biggest names in hospitality, including Hilton, The Dorchester Collection, Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons and Hawksmoor feature among this year’s shortlisted finalists, recognising the outstanding work they have each undertaken in developing their talent and promoting the industry.
Marcin Maryniak, Simon Rogan Restaurant Group’s Head of HR & Recruitment, commented: ‘’We launched the Simon Rogan Academy, to be able to provide passionate individuals serious about developing their careers in hospitality with an opportunity to learn from one of the world’s leading restaurant teams. Being shortlisted in the Best Training Programme category in the annual Springboard awards, is testament to the hard work and dedication of every member of our team and the culinary team from Kendal College, who have between them made the project such a success, and for that I’d like to thank each and every one of them.’’
After receiving a record number of entries and nominations this year, the Springboard Awards judges have had the unenviable task of shortlisting the finalist across each of the sixteen award categories, which include: the Fiona Colley Trainee of the Year Award, Best Training Programme, Best Education & Industry Partnership and Business Innovation Award.
The awards event is set to be held on the river Thames, aboard Oceandiva, hosted by well-known broadcaster and journalist Gordon Smart.
