A small batch craft gin producer on the edge of the Lake District has been revealed as a finalist in another three prestigious awards.
Shed One in Ulverston has been shortlisted in the ‘Ethical, Responsible & Sustainable Tourism’ category at the 2023 Cumbria Tourism Awards in the same week as its popular ‘Shed Loads of Love’ gin was named a finalist in The Gin Guide Awards 2023.
Added to that was news that the distillery has been named one of three finalists in the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2023 recognising the highest standards of quality and customer service in the tourism industry across England.
In the annual Gin Guide Awards, ‘Shed Loads of Love’ is shortlisted in the Contemporary Gin (up to 42%ABV) category alongside a range of gins from all over the world.
Finalists were decided following a series of independent and comprehensive blind tastings by panels of industry-leading judges using a unique and rigorous scorecard system. Gins are judged on elements including appearance, aroma, taste, balance, mouthfeel, finish, and overall appeal, and are sampled both neat and with tonic water for judges to understand the quality and flavour profile. All gins will undergo a final round of tastings before the winners are announced next month.

The Cumbria Tourism Awards highlight the diverse and innovative businesses which exemplify the very best of the county’s vibrant visitor economy. In 2022 Shed One was named ‘Cumbria’s Experience of the Year’ in the same awards – leading to the distillery representing Cumbria on the national stage – and has its sights set on the Ethical, Responsible & Sustainable Tourism Award at this year’s event on Wednesday 5th July.
