Rheged reopens with annual Print exhibition, new cafe & cinema experiences

6th Great Print Exhibition

Rheged, Penrith are reopening their spacious modern gallery, giant-screen cinema, cafes and shops for the first time since the start of the March lockdown at 8am on Monday, 7 December.

And they have plenty to offer visitors in safety after adapting to suit the times.

You can view great original art at the Great Print Exhibition 6 in the new, larger gallery space, and keep your distance with pre-booked time-slotted gallery entry and Covid-secure cinema seat booking.

A spokesperson for reneged said: “We’re delighted to bring you the 6th Great Print Exhibition, our bespoke annual celebration of the art of printmaking. This year’s exhibition features 65 UK artists and nearly 900 works to view and buy, including screen prints, woodcuts, linocuts, collographs and cyanotypes.

“Book online for guaranteed priority entry, bookings can however also be made at the gallery desk subject to availability. To ensure the gallery remains a safe and enjoyable space, we have reduced the number of visitors in the gallery at any one time.

“In our cinema, the season’s new releases are supersized on our immersive 60-foot screen, including A Christmas Carol with an A-list voice cast. Be transported to the National Theatre for encore showings of War Horse and Fleabag. Highlights of our family-friendly festive event cinema programme include The Royal Ballet’s Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House and Katherine Jenkins’s Christmas Extravaganza at the Royal Albert Hall.

And Rheged have a new cafe with new ideas for visitors to enjoy.

“Our new 100-seat café has a pizza oven and juice bar. Its fresh modern menus feature speciality food and drink from some of our favourite craft producers in Cumbria and beyond.

“Whether taking your laptop to lunch or spending time with your household, you’ll find our breakfast, daytime and evening menus flexible and inclusive. Hand-topped pizzas and many other dishes come in children’s and adults’ sizes. New menu coming soon.”
