Rathbone Investment Management’s North Western offices in Levens and Liverpool have raised over £1200 for The Cumbrian Community Foundation and The Owen McVeigh Foundation, with an annual charity challenge on Thursday 27th June seeing staff tackle several Lake District peaks including Scafell Pike (977m), Bow Fell (902m), Esk Pike (885m) and Great End (910m).

The Cumbria Community Foundation is an independent local charity providing philanthropic services to individuals, families and organisations across the county. The charity manages 90 grantmaking funds and supports more than 500 community projects per year on behalf of their fund holders. Since the charity formed in 1999, they have invested more than £44m into almost 4,000 groups and 8,000 individuals.

The Owen McVeigh Foundation aims to help children in the Merseyside area who are suffering from cancer by providing fun days and experiences. It also offers free holidays at a luxury lodge in the Lake District at a time when children and their families need it most.

Mark Mcveigh from the Owen McVeigh Foundation said: “Thank you to everyone at Rathbones who took part in the challenge who raised funds and awareness for The Owen McVeigh Foundation. Donations like this enable us to continue to create life memories for children suffering with cancer and all in Owen’s name; for this we can not thank you enough.”

Andrew Beeforth OBE, Chief Executive of the Cumbria Community Foundation, said: “A huge thank you to Richard and all the team at Rathbones for their fundraising efforts in support of the Community Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Appeal. All money raised will support incredible community projects throughout the county. Rathbones are a great supporter of the local community.”

Richard Dawson, Managing Director of Rathbones Kendal said: “Giving back to our community where we can is so important to us and we all look forward every year to our Big Day Out fundraiser day. The Cumbria Community Foundation and the Owen McVeigh Foundation are such worthy causes and we’re pleased to be able to contribute to supporting their great work in our area.”
