PR agency expanding with new recruits

A Carlisle PR agency is expanding by taking on three new members of staff.

Intro, based on Paternoster Row, has recruited social media specialist Maddie Roe, account manager Amber Patterson, and writer Mark Walton.

Maddie, from West Cumbria, graduated from Newcastle University in 2023 with a degree in business, media, communications and cultural studies, developing a strong foundation in both the creative and strategic aspects of communication and digital media.

After graduating, she gained experience in agency-based marketing, working with a range of clients in different industries, but decided to return home to Cumbria to be closer to family and friends.

She said: “My role at Intro involves building relationships between businesses and their audiences, creating engaging content that sparks conversations, and helping businesses with their online presence in a fast-paced digital landscape.”

Carlisle-born Amber also studied in Newcastle, earning a first-class degree in fashion communication at Northumbria University.

She began her career at Twist, a Tyneside PR and marketing agency, where she progressed to the role of digital marketing manager.

Amber said: “As account manager, I am responsible for managing client relationships and ensuring the smooth delivery of communication strategies and campaigns.

“My focus is on proactive project management, resource co-ordination and collaboration, as well as budget oversight, all with the goal of driving measurable outcomes and exceeding client expectations.

“With now more than five years’ experience in the industry, I’m excited to return home to Carlisle to work with and support the growth of businesses across Cumbria.”

Having previously been a freelance writer for Intro, Mark, originally from Stoke-on-Trent, returns after working for the Evening Standard in London.

He brings a wealth of experience from his 33-year career in journalism, including more than 20 years with Cumbrian Newspapers, former publishers of the News & Star and The Cumberland News.

He said: “It’s a pleasure to be back working for Intro during an exciting time as it looks to widen its roster of clients and promote all that is positive about Cumbria.”

The new arrivals further strengthen Intro’s growing team. Key clients include The Cumberland, Stagecoach, Wragg Mark-Bell Solicitors, Fibrus Broadband and Paragon Veterinary Group.

Intro director Helen Statham, who co-founded the agency with Nick Turner in 2017, said: “We are delighted to be expanding our team with three exceptional new members who each bring a high level of expertise in their particular fields.

“It reinforces our commitment to doing all we can to help make Cumbria a better place.”
