Mad about Minecraft? Potty about Pac-Man? The perfect way for families to spend the October half-term holiday is heading to Carlisle.
The city’s award-winning musuem Tullie is hosting Gamesworld, an exciting pop-up gaming event bringing interactive entertainment for all ages.
Gamesworld features more than 100 playable systems spanning five decades, from classic consoles and arcade machines of the 1970s and 1980s to more modern favourites.
Visitors can enjoy arcade machines, retro consoles, vintage computers, networked Minecraft and immersive virtual reality experiences.
The huge range offers something for both nostalgic players and new-generation gamers, making it an ideal family activity for half-term.
Katie Mitchell, Head of Commercial & Operations at Tullie, said: “We’re really excited about hosting Gamesworld and there will something to appeal to people of all ages – kids and adults who can relive their youths.
“It’s the perfect opportunity for families to spend time having fun together during the October half-term, and there will be many classics from days gone by included alongside the more modern games popular with today’s kids.
“Gamesworld is a good example of Tullie’s versatility, ensuring we provide exhibitions and events which appeal to all interests.”
Games you can enjoy at Gamesworld include Tomb Raider, Classic FIFA (including FIFA 95 and FIFA 97), Pac-Man, Halo, Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario (various titles including Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World and Mario 64), Street Fighter II (upright arcade machine and home console versions) and the upright arcade machine version of Star Wars.
Gamesworld runs from Sunday, October 25, until Saturday, October 31. There are three gaming slots per day:10am – 11.30am; Midday -1.30pm; 2pm -3.30pm.
Between October 29 – 31, there will also be evening sessions running from 6-8pm. These sessions are for over-18s only. Café Tullie will remain open throughout the evening sessions.
Ticket availability is limited for all sessions and early booking is advised.
Gamesworld tickets can be bought without general museum admission.
