The shortlisted finalists for this year’s Baking Industry Awards 2019, (BIA), the baking industry Oscars have been announced and
Aidan found out that he had been shortlisted as Baker of the Year and that a new bread that he has created; a kombucha sourdough made using Farrer’s iconic Lakeland Special Tea, a secret 200-year-old signature blend of Ceylon teas and organic Emmer ancient grains grown exclusively for Lovingly Artisan by Gilchester Organic in Northumberland, had also won through in the product innovation award category.
Now Aidan and the other shortlisted finalists will all have to wait until the glittering awards ceremony being held on Wednesday 4 September, in the glamorous surroundings of Royal Lancaster, London, hosted by former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, to find out who wins through across the 11 award categories.
Commenting on his win Aidan said: ‘’It’s a real honour to be shortlisted alongside the other finalists in this year’s BIA’s. The annual awards are the biggest event in the baking industry calendar and provide a magnificent stage to recognise the skills and achievements of the whole industry.’’
He added: ‘’The BIA’s provide an opportunity for bakers to celebrate those individuals and businesses at the forefront of the UK’s artisan baking scene, an industry that is returning to its roots, creating authentic healthy breads, made using only the finest ingredients and I’m proud to be playing a small part in the future of the UK’s artisan baking industry.’’
