FIRST and foremost, the electric bike industry is going to struggle to cope with the pent-up demand for e-bikes once the social distancing measures are relieved, and the weather warms up, says Paul Clow, electric bike specialist and owner of Eden-e-Motion, Cumbrian E-Bike Retailer of the Year.
Already some bikes are difficult to find (and we are lucky to have the supplier portfolio we do!), and of course, there has been little or no production during the corona outbreak.
What does this mean for 2021 models? Well, normally these would be in design and prototype production by now. Doubtless, this is happening in the shadows but as difficult as it has been to get 2020 models in the UK, I can’t see it being easier to get 2021 when that time comes… even if 2020 production is not resumed. We will simply have to live with what we have.
One piece of advice if you want an e-bike, don’t pay a deposit against a promised delivery date way out ahead…. it’s unlikely to materialize, and you will have wasted a lot of good riding time.
