There’s a new intimate venue for gatherings in Penrith – thanks to development work in the iconic building that is home to Penrith Conservative Club (PCC).
There’s a new dining/party area which has been officially named ‘1882’ in honour of the year that Penrith Conservative Club was founded and has already proved popular for small gatherings.
The Club has played host to hundreds of events over the years, with The Churchill Suite – their large function room at the rear, capable of catering for up to 180 guests. However, with changes in social habits, the ‘middle bar’ area was not being used to its potential.
The PCC team took time during lockdown to pull apart the old middle bar, redesigning, decorating, and furnishing the space so it can cater for smaller parties for up to 35 people.
Commenting on the renovations, Penrith Conservative Club Secretary Roger Mandale said “It’s lovely to have a space where people can enjoy a cosy gathering on the ground floor. We’ve made it accessible for everyone and it has already proved popular with members looking to book small birthday and anniversary celebrations.
“Our stewards Gary and Lorraine Gowers do a great job looking after our members and preparing home cooked food for diners. They’ve been encouraging members to enjoy their meals in 1882 when it’s not booked for special occasions.
“Alongside the large function room, this latest addition makes the Club a very flexible space, and with a busy front bar and growing interest in our pool and snooker rooms, we’re feeling very positive about the year ahead.
“Now the Covid restrictions have eased, we’re glad to be to be fully open again – with capacity in our Churchill Suite back up to 180 guests. It means we can now cater for parties of any size.”
