Milestone for Sally's Cottages

Sally Fielding celebrates 500 cottages with a glass of Prosecco by Buttermere

Local holiday letting agency Sally’s Cottages has this week registered its 500th holiday cottage.

Sally Fielding started the company 16 years ago with just one cottage in Eskdale and only £1,000 in the bank. Reaching this important milestone is a testament to the power of independent business within Cumbria.

“I am so proud to be celebrating having 500 cottages on our website,” comments Sally. “We have such an amazing, hard working team and it’s thanks to everyone here that we are thriving. I could never have imagined, 16 years ago that a chance I took when I was jobless would lead to where we are today.

“I love how when you are a small independent business in Cumbria you become part of a community of other independent businesses.  We’re all relying on each other and having a bit of fun while working hard.  It’s a superb recipe for a strong, self-reliant culture and economy and that’s what makes Cumbria great.”

To honour the occasion, Sally’s Cottages has launched a Visitor Offer scheme, providing their guests with exclusive discounts to local attractions across the Lake District and Cumbria.

“By partnering with other local businesses,” explains Sally, “we hope both to be able to offer something a little extra to our guests whilst promoting the great opportunities in Cumbria, and keeping that inter-connectedness of small independent businesses going.  If anyone has an attraction that they would like us to promote, please do email us – marketing@sallyscottages.co.uk.”

As part of the scheme, guests will benefit from discounts at attractions including the Chocolate Factory Hawkshead, Cyclewise, Keswick Adventures, Go Ape!, the Lakes Distillery, and West Lakes Adventure.

Sally’s Cottages has already had many reasons to celebrate over the past few months. At the end of 2018, they were awarded Gold in the prestigious British Travel Awards, and in 2019 so far Sally’s Cottages has been shortlisted in both the Northern Power Women Awards and The Small Awards. The opening of a second office in Windermere village is another nod to the agency’s success and growth, and their ever-popular Facebook page now has over 600,000 followers.
