Local business, David Allen IT Solutions, has gone above and beyond to help a Carlisle College student, by providing him with the opportunity to successfully complete his Apprenticeship, setting him up on the path to a great future.
Joe Jobson, IT Infrastructure Technician Apprentice at Carlisle College faced uncertainty when, just weeks before he was due to complete his Apprenticeship, he faced redundancy from his employer due to the impact of Covid 19.
David Allen IT Solutions stepped in and kindly offered Joe a 3 week placement which would allow him to complete his Apprenticeship, however they were so impressed with his work during this time that they offered him a permanent full-time role.
Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to learn while you earn, gain a qualification and open up new and exciting career paths. This has certainly been the case for Joe who said, “It has been a real mix of emotions, but finding out David Allen IT had stepped in was a huge relief. I was excited to be joining a company that provides outstanding support with a great reputation throughout Cumbria. I am so thankful for the opportunity.”

Our IT support services have certainly been busy during the Covid-19 period as we have assisted many of our clients to work from home. Carlisle College currently works with over 700 apprentices across 350 local leading businesses and has an extensive apprenticeship provision of more than 30 programmes ranging from Level 2 through to Level 5.
Carlisle College’s latest initiative, Project: Next Gen, is continuing to gain momentum and support from across the region as it aims to inspire the next generation of Apprentices.
In collaboration with regional project partners, Project: Next Gen is designed to address the aspiration gap through a range of inspirationally led content with a different theme each month. Throughout the month of June the theme is focused on the transition into employment.
