Cumbrian firm Lloyd Motor Group has strengthened its offering in the North East by acquiring Stratstone Tyneside BMW & MINI, located just outside Newcastle on Silverlink Shopping Park.
The merger, which took effect on 29 October 2024, sees 57 new colleagues join Lloyd Motor Group. The business has been renamed Lloyd North Tyneside BMW & MINI, and 18 new jobs will be available with roles being recruited across accounts, aftersales, sales, and operations.
The merger comes just six months after Lloyd Motor Group acquired Walkingshaw Volkswagen and Kia in West Cumbria.
It also continues Lloyd Motor Group’s growth in the North East after it opened a used car retailer, Lloyd Select Newcastle, on the ex-Cazoo site earlier this year.

Lloyd Motor Group’s presence in the North East has doubled in the last year with the acquisition of Stratstone Tyneside and the launch of Lloyd Select Newcastle, its newly opened flagship used car operation on Scotswood Road, Newcastle. These retailers join the long-established and successful businesses Lloyd Newcastle BMW & MINI and Lloyd Newcastle Bodyshop, located at Fenham Barracks in Newcastle.
