Simon Rogan’s flagship Lake District restaurant L’Enclume, its sibling Rogan & Co, and chef’s table Aulis in London have all recently garnered national and international recognition from two prestigious restaurant lists.
L’Enclume ranked at number 20 in the Opinionated About Dining (OAD) Top Restaurants in Europe 2024 list on Monday (17th June). Additionally, on the preceding Monday, June 10th, the restaurant was featured in the UK’s top one hundred restaurants for 2024, also at number 20, at the National Restaurant Awards.
Aulis London was also listed at 151 out of 555 restaurants in the same OAD list, while Cartmel sibling Rogan & Co. featured in a separate OAD list covering must-dine Casual European Restaurants, which saw the Cartmel restaurant rank an impressive 111, out of the 705 listed.
While the team at Henrock, located at Linthwaite House, Bowness, have just discovered that they’ve been shortlisted as a finalist in the Best Fine Dining Experience category in this year’s Cumbria Life Readers’ Choice Awards.
Alongside that, L’Enclume’s Head Sommelier Valentin Mouillard, who earlier this year received the Michelin Sommelier Awards 2024, recently discovered at an awards evening held at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel, that he had been listed at number 16 in the second edition of the UK Top 100 Sommeliers, which recognises the professionals who epitomise service excellence in wine.
Originally from a winemaking family based in Jura, in eastern France, Valentin curates a diverse wine list for L’Enclume alongside innovative soft pairings inspired by and utilising produce from Our Farm, which he combines with incredibly engaging, and characterful service, backed up by his knowledge and pride in the wines he serves.
Sam Ward, Managing Director of Simon Rogan’s restaurants (UMBEL Restaurant Group) remarked: ‘’Every award we as a company or as individuals achieve is entirely down to the passionate and dedicated people who work in each of the teams across each of our restaurants. Their enthusiasm for what they do is infectious, it percolates through every level, from the Academy by Simon Rogan students right up to the senior management team. These five accolades are a testament to the hard work of every single person – none more so than Val, who has been deservedly recognised as being one of the UK’s top sommeliers. His dedication exemplifies those who choose to work in this amazing industry and what makes it so special.’’
