The Langdale Estate in the Langdale Valley has been featured in the Government’s Tourism Sector Deal which was announced by the Prime Minister at the end of June.
The estate, which employs around 250 staff, is one of only 13 examples to be used as case studies in the 60-page document. Other case study examples include Liverpool, the National Trust and Birmingham City Airport.
The Deal seeks to support increased productivity in the tourism industry. It also creates a framework to position industry to take advantage of new markets as well as leveraging initiatives designed to deliver the Grand Challenges relating to the data-driven economy, clean growth and an ageing society.
The Deal featured Langdale Estate as an example of a business that has invested significantly in its accommodation, restaurant, fitness, and leisure facilities. It highlights that over the last eight years £15m of investment
has transformed the Langdale Estate and enabled new product creation,
such as Brimstone Hotel, Brimstone Spa and Stove restaurant, to encourage year-round visitors to enjoy the Lake District. It also states that a further £1.2m is expected to be invested annually in the estate.
