A major milestone has been celebrated by one of the fastest-growing housebuilders in the North West.
Genesis Homes has marked the completion of its 500th home by handing the keys to its new owner, Kev Walker.
Kev, a joiner of 30 years, purchased a three-bed detached Derwent house on the company’s Eamont Chase development in Penrith, where he will live with his three children.
To celebrate him becoming the landmark 500th customer, he was presented with £500 worth of vouchers and a bottle of champagne.
Kev, who also works as a firefighter in Whitehaven, said: “When I was looking for a new build home where my children and I would be happy, I knew I should try Genesis Homes as I’ve always been impressed with their houses when I’ve worked in their properties while laying floors.
“Anybody who knows me will tell you that I’m a perfectionist, and Genesis Homes has the highest quality of build I’ve seen. Their homes are well-designed, everything is done to a high standard and the layout of the homes is great and spacious, which is perfect for the kids who need more space now they’re older.
“I had originally bought a house in nearby Frenchfield to do up myself but my circumstances changed so I reassessed things, and I couldn’t be happier that I’ve found the perfect family home where everything is finished and I can relax and be happy with the kids.”
Genesis Homes was founded in 2017 and has constructed new homes throughout Cumbria and North Lancashire. The company has completed eight housing developments and is on course to hit its target of building more than 300 homes each year by 2028.
Founding member and Managing Director Nicky Gordon presented the housewarming gifts to Kev alongside Ashley Conlan, the company’s Sales Executive at Eamont Chase.
Nicky said: “The journey of Genesis Homes has been a remarkable one and we’re so pleased with all we have accomplished over the years.
“To achieve our 500th completion ahead of schedule, particularly after riding the waves of disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, is something the team is rightly proud of, and we’re delighted to welcome Kev and his family to their dream home at our Eamont Chase development.
“We would like to thank Kev and the 499 families before him who have put their trust in Genesis Homes and are happy in their new homes.

As a thank you for playing their part in reaching the milestone 500th completion, each member of staff at Genesis Homes received a £500 bonus.
Genesis Homes has homes available at Eamont Chase in Penrith and developments in Stainburn, Lazonby, Kendal and Halton, in Lancashire. It will commence construction on new homes in Carlisle, Etterby, Kirkby Lonsdale, Seaton and Burgh by Sands before the end of 2024.
