The team from Heft, Newton in Cartmel, in the Lake District, discovered on Monday night (9 June) that they have been included in this year’s UK National Restaurant Awards, at number 77, in the influential list of the UK’s 100 top places to dine for 2025.
Launched in 2007, the National Restaurant Awards celebrate the brilliance and vibrancy of the UK’s dining scene and reward the very best chefs, front-of-house staff, and restaurants the country has to offer, from Michelin-starred dining rooms to casual neighbourhood restaurants and gastropubs.
The National Restaurant Awards celebrate places in the UK that make eating out a true pleasure. The list of the 100 best restaurants in the UK is voted for by 200 industry experts from across the UK, including chefs, restaurateurs, critics, and food writers.
The UK is split into 11 regions, with judges voting for the top seven restaurants they have dined at in the last 12 months, in order of preference, as well as for 16 special award categories, including Chef of the Year, the Lifetime Achievement Award, Opening of the Year and Gastropub of the Year.
Heft’s co-owners, Kevin and Nicola Tickle, commented: “When your restaurant is featured in a UK-wide dining list, it is pretty significant and shows that we are doing things the right way. Everyone on our team has worked exceptionally hard this year, and this ranking is a reflection of their dedication and commitment to ensuring that each of our guests is well cared for. We want to thank each member of our team, as well as our suppliers and guests, who make Heft such a special place.”
