Hutton John Estate in the northern Lakes will be adding to its luxurious selection of accommodation with the launch of Highgate Cabins this Spring.
Nearby to Ullswater, Highgate Cabins will be a collection of four luxurious cabins set within and around an ancient woodland on the historic, family-owned Estate. A quiet retreat away from the main Lake District haunts, each cabin will be set within its own nook of luxury, benefitting from uninterrupted Lake District views, a private outdoor bathtub, sumptuous interiors and premium amenities.
Guests will be able to access a whole host of walks around the Estate and the Lake District right from their doorstep. Pet-friendly and perfect for couples, each cabin will sleep two with the first opening in May and the remaining three to open throughout the year.
Immersed in nature, the four solar-powered, L-shaped cabins, each named after the previous keepers of the Estate, will have larch cladding, seamlessly blending into the Cumbrian countryside. Combining the qualities of a heritage boutique hotel with the beauty of the surrounding landscape, inside each Highgate Cabin, warm, nature-inspired colours like forest green, dark rust and slate, will create an inviting ambience. Snug blankets, plush sofas for loafing and underfloor heating will ensure even on the rainiest of Lake District days, guests can truly relax and switch off.
A large floor-to-ceiling window will let the outdoors in, providing guests with spectacular views over the northern Lake District fells. An additional large skylight in the living area enables guests to relax in the warmth whilst stargazing above. The living space in each cabin will be accompanied by a modern, well-equipped kitchen with a full-sized oven and induction hob, quartz worktop and dining table. A super-king bedroom with cosy wool duvets, wood furniture and linen fabrics will have a separate ensuite shower room with Bath House toiletries.
Tucked within their private nook of luxury and benefitting from total serenity, each Highgate Cabin will have a secluded outdoor space to allow guests to immerse themselves in nature. A private decked area with a fire pit, BBQ and seating will ensure the outdoor space can be used throughout all seasons. A private double-ended outdoor bathtub covered in the same larch cladding as the cabins will allow guests to breathe in the views, soak up their stunning surroundings and bathe in nature’s soundtrack.
All cabin guests will have access to a communal area called The Quadrangle. Surrounded by charming heritage farm outbuildings, the private area will be a space where guests can enjoy al fresco dining, picnicking and places to sit back and enjoy a good book. From The Quadrangle, guests will have access to acres of space to roam. Located near Ullswater, the Estate has acres of rolling countryside and wildlife-filled woodlands to explore.
Lesser-known Lake District footpaths also run through the Estate allowing guests to enjoy the area, away from the usual tourist hotspots. For guests wanting the classic Lakes experience, Penrith, Watermillock, Pooley Bridge and Keswick are all just a short drive away.
