Now newer isn’t always better but I am pleasantly surprised by the look and feel of the new season’s bikes so now is really the right time to come and have a chat even if you are just starting to think about an e-bike for the glorious autumn or ready for the spring. There are some very good reasons for this….
Massive discounts on 2019 bikes
There are still some massive discounts on 2019 bikes and it’s still errrr…. 2019! How mad is that? These bikes are often better specification than their 2020 equivalents as many of of our happy customers are discovering.
For some obscure (financial!?) reason the bike manufacturers have all released their 2020 ranges early this season and human nature is to want the latest so pre-orders are at a record high. Luckily we got in early for the bikes that we think will be popular here. That means we have some real new bikes, not just promises.
So, what’s new?
Well, Bosch has brought out two new motors for 2020 and a bigger 625Wh battery pushing the range into the hundreds of miles! (Further extensions also possible now using dual technology).
The most significant change is the new CX motor, it’s quieter and lighter and now has a freewheel so you don’t have to turn the motor over when it cuts-out …. You are really just peddling a normal bike.
Lighter e-bikes for 2020
Bikes are a bit lighter and new models (not here yet) have a new super-light motor and battery system from Fazua, now bringing our lightest e-bike down to only 13.5Kg.
Not to be left out Shimano have a new motor to compliment it’s excellent existing ones and the fully automatic motor and gears system Di2 is likely to be very popular as more and more people are returning to cycling for fitness fun and financial reasons but don’t want to be caught out by re-learning how to change gears!
The picture is of a beautiful small but beautifully designed ladies bike from Bergamont. Bergamont are a subsidiary of Scott bikes who make lovely quality bikes in Europe. This one is not only a gorgeous olive colour but hides a range of up to 80 miles under real Cumbria riding conditions… look at the size of the cogs… nothing will stop this tiny terror!
