More than 700 properties in Great Broughton can now take advantage of lightning-fast Full Fibre broadband supplied by Fibrus.
Great Broughton is the latest village to benefit from Full Fibre in Cumbria, joining towns like Workington, Parton and Ambleside, which have all been connected in recent months. As a result, people in the area can now get Fibrus Broadband in their homes and businesses with speeds of up to 1Gb.
Fibrus would like to thank the residents of Great Broughton for their patience while work was being carried out in the area.
Reflecting on the latest roll-out, Colin Hutchinson, Chief Financial Officer for Fibrus, said:

And he added: “As you will have fibre directly to your home, you will no longer need a traditional telephone line. If you use your telephone line for making and receiving calls, we can provide you with an excellent low-cost alternative using VoIP (voice over IP) Technology.”

As well as investing in broadband, Fibrus have also been investing in local communities. The Fibrus Community Fund has seen the company invest £60,000 over the last 12 months to tackle digital poverty across Cumbria, including supporting Time to Change West Cumbria. This investment sits alongside Fibrus’ Play it Forward fund, which has been providing grants to nearly 20 Cumbrian grassroots sports clubs. Fibrus has also invested heavily in Workington Town Rugby League Club, with naming rights for the Fibrus Community Stadium and also securing the front of shirt sponsorship for the men’s home and alternative kits, as well as the ladies’ home kit. Fibrus also sponsors the Fibrus 100, the first Cumbrian cricket league for girls.
