The Beacon Museum in Whitehaven has re-opened its doors to visitors with one of the world’s most prestigious photography events – The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
The museum re-opened on Tuesday, May 18 and is the only venue in the North West of England to host the exhibition.
“It’s wonderful to be open again and visitor reaction so-far to the world-famous Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition has been great,” says Alan Gillon, The Beacon Museum’s Learning Officer.
“It is one of the most popular photography shows in the world and this is the only place in the North West you can see it.” Wildlife Photographer of the Year is on loan from the Natural History Museum in London.
The exhibition is just one of the museum’s four floors of fascinating exhibits which now include new interactive family friendly digital displays. Visitors should wear masks unless exempt under public health guidelines

The museum is working to a reduced capacity until pandemic restrictions ease so it is recommended that visitors phone for admission details.

Dates and times: Tuesday – Saturday: 10am – 4.30pm. Sunday: 11am – 4pm. Mondays closed except during local school holidays. Last admission 3pm.
