CHIEF Executive, Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, Rob Johnston has emailed all their members to update them on their work with government on the impact of COVID-19.
Mr Johston wrote: “A big part of the Chamber’s role is to represent businesses and fight your corner with the influencers at Westminster.
“That role has never been more vital than at a time like this.
“I’d like to share with you the written evidence we have just submitted to the Commons’ Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee, which is investigating the impact of coronavirus on businesses and workers.”

Mr Johnston added: “We highlight gaps in the Government’s support package for businesses and make recommendations to improve it to help those businesses that fail to qualify for grants or business rate relief or who struggle to access loans.
“Much of the evidence for the submission was gathered from our Coronavirus Survey of more than 500 Cumbrian businesses.
“I’d like to thank those of you who completed this – the information you provided has been invaluable. It helps us to help you.
