HM Treasury has announced that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (furlough) will be extended to the end of June, says Tom Scaife of Baines Wilson LLP.
It was initially due to close on 31 May, although Chancellor Rishi Sunak was clear from the outset that it would be kept under review.
This will likely help businesses who were planning to start 45 day collective consultation for redundancies if contemplating more than 100 redundancies from the start of June. That process can now be delayed.
