Coffee drinkers across the globe will have the opportunity to enjoy a new, unique blend of beans and help raise funds for a Cumbrian charity supporting unpaid Carers.
The limited edition coffee blend, called Carers Coffee, has been created by Cumbrian coffee and tea specialists Penningtons, and 10 per cent of every bag sold will go to Carer Support South Lakes this year.
Gina Pennington of Penningtons Tea and Coffee explained: “We have decided to make Carer Support South Lakes our charity for this year, and creating a special coffee blend just for them means people anywhere in the World can order a bag online and help raise funds for this hard-working, much needed local charity.
“We thought we knew what the charity did, having friends involved. However, it was at Carer Support South Lakes’ 30th-anniversary fundraising ball last year we became fully aware of the wide range of people they help in this area.
“Before Covid, we had an annual charity, and after hearing about all the services and support Carer Support South Lakes provides in our community, locally we decided to make them our charity for 2023.”
And as well as grinding up a fundraiser, Gina is also using her 50th birthday year celebrations to raise even more money for the Kendal-based charity.
Gina said: “I will be celebrating my 50th birthday in July with a party, and rather than give me a present or buy me a drink, I have asked guests to make a donation to Carer Support South Lakes instead.
“I am also running the Manchester Marathon on April 16, and all sponsorship will go to the charity, and I’m planning to do a wing walk as well this year.
“As well as this, the Penningtons Tea and Coffee team will also be raising funds with collection boxes in the offices, and we are planning a murder mystery night as well.”
