The stall, manned by Martin Gott, the man behind iconic cheeses’ St. James, Crookwheel, and Holbrook, is home to a carefully curated selection of 20 British made artisan cheeses.
The collection includes several of Martin’s own creations and a selection of personal favourites from around the UK, including hard cheeses like Appleby’s Cheshire and Coolea, as well as soft cheeses like Baron Bigod with truffle, St. Jude and St. Cera, and traditional style raw milk blue cheeses like Stichelton and Young Buck.
These cheeses are on offer alongside a selection of delectable chutneys, delicious small batch ciders, artisan crackers and salamis at the deli style pop-up cheese shop.
Martin will be on site Tuesday to Sunday, from 11.30 am to 4.00 pm right up to Christmas Eve, which means everyone can stock up on quality festive foodie gifts and expertly cut and wrapped artisan British cheeses… the perfect gift for every cheese lover.
As well as St James & Friends the team at Yew Tree Barn have also invited along a carefully chosen selection of artisan producers and local artists to set up shop in the courtyard, as part of a socially distanced pop-up market.
The pop-up is designed to enable local artisans to be able to sell their wares in a safe and socially distanced way throughout December, and local residents to be able to shop locally and safely. The site is open every day (Mon – Sun) between 10am to 4pm right up to Christmas Eve, with late night opening each Friday until 7pm.
Stall holders on site include Martine Becquet Ceramics, Gren’s Shed, Lakes Bathtub, Neaum Kitchen, Josh Hill Furniture, Northern Baked, Unsworth’s Brewery, Shoreline Art and Alan Jones Scroll Saw Art. Harry’s Hut will be open to, serving outdoor festive food, mulled wine, raclette and hot chocolate, and if that wasn’t enough visitors can also access all of the usual gifts and antiques on offer at Yew Tree Barn.
Everyone attending is asked to adhere to the current COVID-19 guidelines, there are plenty of hand sanitiser stations on site, stallholders and visitors are encouraged to wear a face coverings and numbers coming onto the site will be carefully monitored to ensure social distancing is observed to keep everyone as safe as possible.
