The annual Potfest in the Park attracted serious ceramic collectors, as artisan potters reported high sales from the moment the three-day event opened at Hutton-in-the-Forest last weekend.
The event usually attracts ceramic artists from across the world, however due to COVID restrictions this year’s event was a celebration of the best of UK artists and a showcase for British talent.
Julian Jardine of Julian Jardine Ceramics in Perth, Scotland said: “It has been an amazing event this year. As we were setting out our stalls on Friday morning, there was already a queue of people waiting to come in – and when they did they were buying pieces from the start. Everyone I have spoken to had an unbelievable day on Friday and the atmosphere has been amazing throughout the weekend.”
Potest in the Park usually attracts 20-to-25 international artists, however there was plenty of diversity at this year’s event. Every stall had something unique and creative – and the celebration of ceramics continues this weekend at Potfest in the Pens take place at Penrith and District Farmers Auction Mark in Penrith.
Once again, you will be able to see more established and up-and-coming potters in a lively, bustling market venue from Friday, 30 July until Sunday, 1 August.
The theme for this year’s Potfest is ‘Time & Reflection’. Open 10am until 5pm daily, entry is £5 for adults and accompanied under 16s free. There will also be free parking and refreshments on site. Well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome.
