Ecological Building Systems, a Cumbrian supplier of natural building products for sustainable construction, has appointed Martyn Hornsby as Sales Manager.
Based in the Carlisle headquarters, Martyn oversees the sales office team, ensuring great customer service in all aspects, including quoting, ordering and deliveries.
He is also responsible for customer care, including key account management of contractors, merchants and stockists as well as home-owners and self-builders looking to improve their homes. This involves a close working relationship across the businesses to ensure the right information is provided to customers.
Martyn has extensive sales and management experience, having worked for multiple high street retailers in senior roles, as well as recruitment experience, where he placed staff for construction clients including Ecological Building Systems and the third sector.
Having met some of Ecological Building Systems’ Directors during this time, Martyn was impressed with the culture of the company, so when the Sales Manager role was created, he applied for the position himself.
Martyn received the intensive training that Ecological Building Systems provides to all its customer-facing staff to ensure they can respond accurately and effectively to customer enquiries.
Lorna Graham, Deputy General Manager of Ecological Building Systems, said: “We had known Martyn for some time and he has a proven track record in managing teams and working both with consumers and large commercial customers. Demand for natural building materials is high and, as our enquiries grow every month, Martyn is playing a key role in driving forward sales and enhancing our customer experience.”
Martyn Hornsby explains: “I am really enjoying my role at Ecological Building Systems. I work closely with key customers and the technical team, to ensure any queries are dealt with effectively. It is exciting to be part of a team where people are passionate about sustainable building products.”
Ecological Building Systems recently doubled the size of its premises, acquiring a new warehouse and office unit adjacent to its existing facilities in Carlisle, Cumbria.
The company relocated its sales, logistics and purchasing teams into the newly refurbished 40,000 sq ft space, as part of its growth and expansion.
Within the new premises, Ecological Building Systems has a showroom which is open to self-builders, home renovators and professionals to demonstrate its range of natural building products. This includes natural insulation materials, airtight and weathertight membranes as well as ventilation and heat recovery systems.
Ecological Building Systems was established in County Meath, Ireland in 2000, the UK division was set up in 2007 and is based near Carlisle in Cumbria. Ecological’s parent company is MacCann & Byrne, a family-owned company steeped in history having been established on the same premises in Athboy since 1906.
