Black Bull listed in top foodie guide for the first time

Black Bull, Sedburgh

THe highly acclaimed Black Bull, Sedbergh, has been included in the prestigious Harden’s restaurant guide for the first time ever – picking up a flush of three’s for Food, Service and Ambience.

For 21 years running, the Harden’s team have we collected and curated tens of thousands of reviews from ‘ordinary’ restaurant-goers up and down the country for the UK Guide, which outline their best and worst dining experiences over the last 12 months.

The handy restaurant guide is written by ordinary restaurant-goers and covers everything from the best fish and chip shops to great gastropubs, and perfect little local restaurants and the grandest temples of haute cuisine.

The UK Guide provides one of the most comprehensive independent restaurant guides, covering over 2,800 restaurants in major cities, towns and villages up and down the country.

The opinions expressed in Harden’s are based on what is now the largest annual survey of restaurant-goers. Each restaurant’s performance is compared with others in the same price-bracket to ensure that readers get the best ‘bang for their buck’ regardless of their budget.

The 2020 edition of annual guide of the best UK restaurants – the 21st – is based on a survey of 7,500 diners who contributed some 50,000 reviews of their restaurant experiences during the year.

Ratings for each restaurant cover three key areas Food, Service, and Ambience. 5 is exceptional, 4 very good, 3 good, 2 average, and 1 is poor.

The Black Bull’s co-owner James Ratcliffe said: ‘’Harden’s reporters’ are a demanding bunch with discerning taste, who really know their onions. Our inclusion is great news for the area and for the Black Bull, further helping to boost the region’s gastro tourism offer and putting Sedbergh on the map.”
