Yew Tree Barn Christmas Markets

Having previously announced dates for their annual Festive Market in December, which will run from Friday 3 December through to Sunday 5 December, Yew Tree Barn have been swamped with requests from customers and stall holders to add extra dates in the run up to Christmas. 

Not wishing to disappoint, the team have given in to this unexpected wave of demand and decided to oblige by adding two additional weekends to their Festive event calendar.

Over the years it’s been running Yew Tree Barn’s Festive Market has become a firm favourite with both artisans and shoppers alike, especially those looking for unique gifts and curios, to surprise their loved ones with on Christmas Day.

The extra festive market dates are: 

Friday 10 (10am -7pm), Saturday 11 (10am-4pm), Sunday 12 December (10am-4pm)

Friday 17, (10am -7pm), Saturday 18 (10am-4pm), Sunday 19 December (10am-4pm)

You will notice the markets at Yew Tree Barn are open later on both Fridays, so people can get into the swing of each weekend and soak up a proper Winter market experience, with live music, street food, mulled wine and more. All designed to help set the tone for the weekends ahead in the run up to Christmas.

But that’s not all, head chef Gerald van der Walt is opening up his kitchen at Harry’s Café Bar to serve up a seasonally inspired menu on Friday 10, Thursday 16 and Friday 17 – but you’ll need to get ahead of the game and get booked in to avoid missing out! 

Festive Yew Tree Menu

Cartmel Valley smoked salmon, blood orange, celeriac remoulade, rye croutons

Spiced pumpkin soup, prawn fritter, curried flavoured oil

Slow cooked young jacket potatoes, black pudding, and creamed spinach

Butter roasted turkey breast, stuffing, bread sauce, cranberry sauce, gravy 

Roasted winter squash, nut stuffing, cranberry, and veggie gravy 

Slow cooked lamb belly, anchovy purée, wilted kale, and roast garlic sauce 

(All mains served with a side of roast potatoes, brussels sprouts with bacon lardons and roasted carrots with toasted almonds and star anise)

Warm Speculaas spiced cake, ginger custard, vanilla ice cream 

Stichelton custard, verjuice jelly, poached pear, and almond crumb

Set 3 course menu £35 – 7 for 7.30pm

With quality stalls showcasing artisan made gifts, cards, art, ceramics, toiletries, Christmas decorations, locally produced food, and drink, as well as Yew Tree Barn’s extensive collection of antiques and collectables, which happily means that you’ll find something for even the fussiest gifting recipient. 

Organiser, Pamela Wilson, commented: ‘’Demand for our Christmas Market stall pitches this year has been phenomenal, which is why we’ve decided to add extra weekend dates. This means we can now accommodate all of the stallholders who want pitches by rotating them across the various weekend, giving everyone the opportunity to have a place for at least one of the three weekends in the Festive build up, it also rings the changes for visitors to the markets to by providing a good mix of different local artists and makers.’’
