Local home care company, Home Instead South Lakes, is pleased to announce the success of its first Easter gifting campaign. The ‘Be an Easter Bunny to a Someone’ initiative asked the local community to donate chocolate eggs to people across the local community this Easter, to spread some joy and festive cheer.
There was a grand total of 500 chocolate eggs donated to the campaign. 300 came from individuals throughout the community, and 200 were kindly donated by Morrison’s in Kendal, who hosted the donation point.
Community champion at Morrison’s, Kirsty Ireland commented: “It is such a wonderful campaign that our customers have been excited to get involved with. The pandemic is still having a huge impact on our society and it’s great to see our local community come together and help each other through these difficult times.”
The 500 donated eggs were then distributed to people throughout the local community with the help of the Green Watch Team at Kendal Fire Brigade. Eggs were gifted to individuals at various community organisations including: Impact Housing Jenkins Crag and South Lakes Foyer, Sight Advice South Lakes, Targeted South Support, Counsellor Michel Miles, Kendal Community Emergency Planning Group, the Kendal Integrated Care Community Team, Manna House, the Sandylands Association, Kendal People’s Café, the Parish Church and Nutwood Medical Practice.
This included donations to the volunteers and nurses at the local COVID-19 vaccination centre, thanking them for the long hours they put in to immunising the community.
Rachel Sanders, recruitment and community engagement coordinator at Home Instead commented: “We launched the campaign as a follow up to our Christmas gift giving initiative, where a great deal of people donated gifts to local seniors. We have been overwhelmed with the turnout for our Easter campaign! So many eggs were donated, all of which have brought so many smiles to the faces of people throughout our community!
“We wanted to remind our community that we are still thinking about them as we come out of lockdown. We couldn’t be prouder of our community who donated in force! A huge thank you to everyone who donated.”
