Carlisle College are launching Project: Next Gen, a brand-new scheme, with the aim of inspiring the next generation of Apprentices.
In collaboration with Carlisle City Council and regional project partners including Inspira, Hello Future and Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, Project: Next Gen is designed to address the emerging aspiration gap through a range of inspirationally led content. The project will kick off with a virtual launch event on April 12th. Businesses across the county are welcome to join the event by registering here.
Project: Next Gen will provide support for those considering their next steps by inspiring and engaging potential Apprentices through a range of support and content, led by Carlisle College, including tips, guidance, and masterclasses on a range of areas within Apprenticeships, Careers and Employability.
The project will also encourage contribution from local employers, through the provision of high quality, localised employability content and resources, including the promotion of local Apprenticeship opportunities and future career pathways.
Martin Norris, Business Development Manager, Carlisle College said;
“In a recent report, 55% of young people aged 16-25 say coronavirus has made them fearful for their future, with 41% reporting that their goals now seem “impossible to achieve,” these are startling figures and we need to act now.
“Project: Next Gen will inspire the next generation of Apprentices. Those employers who are able to support the project will be making a real difference to the lives of Cumbria’s next generation. You will be helping us tackle the aspiration gap head on, rejuvenating the imaginations and life goals of students and jobseekers across the region. Whether it’s by providing content, or an Apprenticeship opportunity within your business, we would love to hear from you.”
Carlisle College currently works with over 700 apprentices across 350 local leading businesses, including Pirelli, Story, David Allen and BSW Timber.
The career options and industries available through apprenticeships at Carlisle College is diverse, with an extensive apprenticeship provision of more than 30 programmes including Business Administration, Construction, Customer Service, Engineering, Human Resources, IT and Motor Vehicle, ranging from Level 2 through to Degree Level apprenticeships.
