Kirkby Lonsdale is Open for Business

Cumbria Tourism visited Kirkby Lonsdale today, meeting businesses, partners and community members and pledging its support following the recent fire and tragic events.

Today many of Kirkby Lonsdale’s shops, cafes, and hospitality venues are open and welcoming visitors. Known for its unique charm and independent businesses, the town offers a distinctive experience, especially in the run-up to the festive period and beyond.

Gill Haigh, Managing Director of Cumbria Tourism, said: “Kirkby Lonsdale is my local town and a place very close to my heart. We are all devastated by the recent events but spending time in Kirkby Lonsdale today, what has really shone through has been the incredible resilience, the sense of community togetherness and a reminder of the place’s absolute and unique charm. By visiting, shopping, and enjoying the fantastic hospitality on offer, we can all play a part in supporting the community and helping Kirkby Lonsdale on its road to recovery.”

Visitors are being encouraged to enjoy all Kirkby Lonsdale has to offer, including special late-night shopping events, with businesses staying open until 7pm on Friday 20th and Monday 23rd December. To make visiting even easier, free parking is available throughout December in council-run car parks (New Road 1, New Road 2, and Market Square) and unrestricted parking at Booths’ Wellington Court.
