Cumbria Business Growth Hub is holding two events aimed specifically at the food & drink sector.

On Thursday 28 April 10am to 12noon the Growth Hub’s online ‘Meet the Regulators’ session gives the chance to hear from and address questions to Trading Standards, Environmental Health and Licensing. It’s an ideal opportunity to hear the ways regulators can support local businesses and the services and advice they offer.

Cumbria Business Growth Hub ia hosting their first Food & Drink Spring Expo at Rheged on 19 May between 10am and 4pm. On offer are three great workshops, three inspiring guest speakers and a mini exhibition.

Jackie Harris, of Brightspark Marketing, will be running two workshops sharing her expertise on using Instagram and writing compelling product descriptions for your website and online marketing. Richard Gill, of R Gill Photography, will run a hands on session on using your smart phone to take great photos and create video.

Guest speakers are:

  • Elaine Remy, of Vie’s Jamaican Rum Cakes, who will share her motivation, experience of setting up a new business and where she’s been able to take the business in a relatively short space of time.
  • Colin Sneathwho is owner of A Day’s Walk, a local artisan produce delivery service set up in 2020 which now delivers all over Cumbria, as well as running the Lake District Food Hall at Holker Hall. He will offer some insights into what retailers are looking for from local producers and how local producer back-stories are essential to create interest and amplifying the uniqueness of your produce – which in turn raises its value and helps maintain a premium price.
  • Edmund Wood, of Belgrove Rum, who has recently begun supplying 90 Asda stores and will be sharing his experiences, both highs and lows.
