Mr Arthur Weasley, the Border Collie of Instagram fame, born into a working dog pack who found a life of luxury as a family pet more to his taste now shares his dog-friendly experiences as cumbria24’s new blogger.
For the first time I have been invited along to a food review with my human family, and I was pleased to say my lunchtime visit to The Flying Pig at Bowness-on-Windermere was a very enjoyable experience.
It was a very hot day when we visited The Flying Pig, which has been awarded Best Pub in Cumbria in the annual National Pub & Bar Awards, and the first thing I noticed at doggie level was a huge jar of dog biscuits and a water bowl waiting for me as we entered.

The original wooden floor was perfect for me, and the tables were near enough for me to say ‘Hello’ to fellow diners as I entered yet gave me plenty of space to spread out as my family enjoyed their lunch. They share their food review and you can read it here.
I was made to feel very welcome, and I enjoyed my biscuits, as well as the odd titbit of beautiful Cumberland Sausage and fish, which were given to me from my family’s plate.
After the heat outside, it was relaxing to be in the cool, calm dining room with my family rather than outside near the busy street (as I do get a little anxious in crowds). It was nice to visit somewhere where I am welcome inside as well as out in the garden.
