SOME of our most popular attractions have been refurbished and come back this month with social distancing. And we have a totally new event – Cumbria’s first socially distanced music festival.
From historic homes to fine dining opportunities with discounts, to scenic train rides and fun public transport, there is something for everyone to enjoy in the Lakes and more this month.

1. Take a ride on the iconic La’al Ratty again!
The iconic steam train is back on track, and with a fully refurbished first-class option.
During lockdown, a team of experts have been lovingly keeping one of the UK’s best-known heritage railway lines and its historic steam engines in tip-top condition.
Now a series of new innovations are ready for passengers to enjoy, including a luxury observation carriage which is available for up to 14 passengers to hire privately.

2 Discover the Lake District on public transport
Stagecoach and Windermere Lake Cruises resume their services from Monday, 3 August. So you can take an open-top bus ride through the beautiful countryside and then hop on a boat to sail England’s largest lake.

3. Discover the culinary delights at a discount with Eat Out to Help Out in Cumbria
Mid-week, throughout this month the Government is providing £10 ‘vouchers’ on meals at participating restaurants and cafes, helping provide a boost to the catering industry.
There’s never been a better month for food lovers to visit Cumbria and enjoy the best we have to offer at a cut-price.

4. Go to the Lake District’s first socially distanced music festival
If you thought you wouldn’t be enjoying music in a field this summer, think again. Cumbria is to enjoy the first social distance music festival this August Bank Holiday weekend.
The event at the Westmorland Showground is also in aid of a great charity – MIND.

5. Visit the refurbished Wordsworth home, Dove Cottage
DOVE Cottage, the world-famous home of William and Dorothy Wordsworth will open after a major restoration on 15 August 2020.
The original plans to open on 7 April with a series of events to celebrate the poets 250th anniversary had to be put on hold when Government advised all tourist attractions to close.
To ensure social distancing, limited places are available per session. All visits must be pre-booked online: wordsworth.org.uk.
