ONE thing better than finding the perfect crafting items for yourself is finding the ideal gift for someone else.
Though Christmas is precisely half a year away from Woolfest, it is the start of my festive shopping process. To give someone something they can make is to gift them an experience, a skill and a final item they can be proud of and which contains a little bit of them.
I like to find something for my daughter’s Christmas stocking. From giant wool that she has made into a rug for her bedroom, to a kit to knit a pencil case. There is always something you’d never find on the high street to purchase at Woolfest.
My favourite item was a silver crochet hook – what a special gift for someone special.
My favourite gift was a little bag of handmade buttons with musical motifs which we bought for my daughter’s piano teacher. She always joked about the range of gifts she received from students with treble clefs et cetra emblazoned on them – however, she’d never had buttons before! I just wish I’d taken a photo of them before I gave them as a gift. I would have loved to have shared that photo of them here with you.
