As the road map unfurls before us, how are you feeling about planning on attending events? writes events & wedding columnist Annabel Chandler from Weddings by Annabel.
The road map gave us a potential light at the end of the tunnel although this was served with a dollop of uncertainty. The events industry has been on pause throughout the pandemic with extremely limited dates and numbers allowed, if at all. Now the calendars are filling up as we move forward with vaccinations and positive numbers dropping.
Personally, I am gearing up with hope for my work events and personal fun filled events. I know there are many large events being piloted across the country before restrictions end. These are being run by using testing and vaccination records. Would you feel confident about being in a crowd, no distancing, or masks, relying on the process?
International events such as the Eurovision Song Contest and UEFA Nations League are due to happen later on in the year which we know won’t have been a light decision to make. The Brit Awards are going ahead with 4,000 guests in May! Cumbria has a wealth of events from music or food festivals to awards and street parties. Are you keeping track of confirmations for this year or have you written it off, planning a 2022 return?
Solfest, music festival scheduled for August, Event Director Sam Johnston commented:
“We are extremely excited to be back in the Solfest fields and are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to run this year. We have spent the last 12 months organising the biggest and best event possible and are humbled by the support from the 1000s who have bought a ticket nationwide. We will follow all government guidelines as it becomes available for events our size in June.”
