Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced the extension of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme to the end of October, says Tom Scaife of Baines Wilson LLP.
It will remain in its current form until the end of July, at which point the Government is planning to amend it so that furloughed employees can work part-time, with employers being asked to pay a percentage towards the salaries of their furloughed staff.
The Chancellor said that full details of the amended scheme will be published by the end of May.
