A Cumbrian charity is creating a pop-up pet shop to help raise funds for new kennels for rescued dogs.
Eden Animal Rescue has already raised £121,000, towards the total of £500,000 to fund the ongoing build of a new kennel block. The team is setting up a one-day-only pet shop at Langwathby Village Hall on Saturday, November 16.
They will be selling lots of quality brand-new pet items and treats plus pre-loved animal items at bargain prices. There will also be items on sale for humans too – including gifts, bric-a-brac, books, cards, cakes and home produce. In addition, there will be a Tombola stall, a children’s lucky dip and games. Light refreshments will be available
Every penny spent will go to the Eden Animal Rescue Kennel Project, which will improve facilities for the welfare of the dogs that stay at the charity’s Centre at Moorlands Head Farm HQ Chair of Eden Animal Rescue, Chris at Newbiggin, Temple Sowerby.
Work is progressing on the new kennel block of 20 individual kennels.
Chair of Eden Animal Rescue, Chris Cheetham said: “The pop-up shop will provide pet owners with the ideal opportunity to buy their pets the ideal Christmas present, as well as other items – and help raise funds for less fortunate dogs.
“The new kennel block, together with essential associated works to improve the Eden Animal Rescue site is costing in the region of £1.6 million. This is substantially more than originally envisaged due to a number of issues. These include a long delay in receiving planning permission and additional conditions. There has also been significant inflation in the cost of building materials and essential alterations to the electricity supply onsite. However, we are determined to raise the funds with the support of our supporters and the public.”
Eden Animal Rescue’s Kennel Project fundraising pop-up shop will be open at Langwathby Village Hall from 10.30 am until 3pm on Saturday, November 16.
