A whopping 5.4 tonnes in carbon emissions could be prevented, if just 15 homeworkers made the switch to co-working, figures suggest
Statistics reveal shared facilities can have a hugely positive impact on the environment – and have significant benefits when it comes to saving on home energy bills.
CoWork.Ulverston are urging sole traders and companies with home workers to consider moving to a hybrid model as part of their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations.

Figures based on the use of central heating powered by a 24kw boiler for three hours Monday-Friday across the six months of autumn and winter reveal that 5,194kg1 of carbon emissions would be generated.
And with the additional impact of a modest three brews a day, the figures2 increase by 245kg annually.
The calculations are based on the carbon impact of 15 home workers which is the maximum capacity of CoWork Ulverston. They do not take account of marginal impacts such as lighting.
Comparisons show that 5.4 tonnes of CO2 emissions are equal to five-and-a-half flights from Paris to New York or the charging of 656,872 smartphones.
The Co-Work Ulverston space is on the first floor of the business centre and comprises a mix of single person desks, bar-style seating and a more relaxed communal area with beanbags, coffee table and chairs.
Packages start at just £99 plus VAT per month on a rolling monthly basis with no long term contractual requirement. At this investment level, CoWork users are able to use the office facilities up to eight times per month.
Unlimited access costs £199 plus VAT per month. CoWork users will also be eligible to book the business centre’s meeting rooms at reduced rates.
